Hoën custom trunk lighting

Don't bother searching the Hoën web site, its not listed.  No, the bulbs you see here are the product of the owner 'tinkering' around with custom products just because he's got access to them and of course a 997 Turbo.

In person the color is more white than the images below show which turns out to be a perfect match to the white color the illuminated door sills emit at night flowing nicely with the car even if no one will see it but you.

The LED's are a custom size and design featuring a 'shut off' mode most LED's don't include.  This prevents the LED from staying lit even when the car is off, a common problem with LED bulbs.  Battery saving power reduction of 95%+ of so is a nice plus over the stock 10w bulbs which run awfully hot to the touch.

Install is a breeze (see below) and they can be special ordered from Hoën via the link below with a few day turnaround for about $50 a pair.

Installation

Quite simple, simply pry off the stock light cover carefully with a flat head screwdriver.

Then simply pull the connector off (don't let it fall away into the slot).

Remove the stock bulb and reverse installation.  Removal is trickier than it looks, bend the top away and then pry the lower metal connector away.  Watch for flying bulbs.

Also works for the engine bay lighting (same fitment) but Hoën claims the engine heat will kill them within a year and don't officially recommend it.  Sure looks great though.

Here is a close-up of the new bulb vs. stocker ready for install, note the orientation of the LED pointing out towards the lens.
